Selection Procedure

Generally, we require a minimum of five CXC passes at Grade III minimum or equivalent in Maths, Science and English. Science could be any Science subject eg. Physics or Integrated Science or a recognized Technical Qualification in the discipline of interest. (Diploma in Engineering, City & Guilds Ordinary Technician Diploma etc. are accepted)

Interested persons holding higher qualifications such as A’ Levels or Diploma/Degree are encouraged to apply. Accreditation for Prior Learning (APL) is awarded if the applicant can prove that they have already achieved a satisfactory standard at a subject within the Programme.

We recognize that at times the compulsory educational system is not of the standard it could be, and some abled students are therefore disadvantaged. This is why we require all prospective attendees to complete the School’s Aptitude Test and score the minimum marks in Mechanical Comprehension, Mathematics, English, and Mental Dexterity (this test analyses and determines the applicant’s suitability and adaptability to the learning process).

The Mental Dexterity Test is professionally written by educational psychologists in the United Kingdom. It does not test what the applicant has already learned as such, but a computer analyses the results and determines the applicant’s potential to learn.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Enrollment

The School’s Uniform must be worn at all times in the classroom and at social functions and ceremonies. Overalls are used for the student’s protection on the hangar floor.

All trainees enrolled in the Ab-Initio Programme are required to have the following:

  • Student’s Handbook
  • One insurance card
  • School ID card
  • Overall(s)/ Uniform comprising of White Pilot Shirts, Eauplets and Black Pants
  • One Toolkit with a full complement of Tools
  • OJT Logbook
  • Textbooks
  • Insurance card

The following documents are required for the enrollment process:

  • Birth Certificate – original and 1 copy
  • Passport or ID Card – original and copy
  • CXC or Relevant Academic Qualifications – original and 1 copy of each.
  • 2 Passport Size Photographs

The Ab-Initio Programme Fees are payable in installments Yearly, Quarterly or as otherwise agreed upon. These fees cover the cost of the Accident and Illness Insurance Plan a well as all tuition and work attachment necessary to complete the course.

Course notes are paid for separately.
