Captain Malcolm G. Chan-A-Sue’s legacy extends far beyond the aircraft he piloted; it is woven into the very fabric of our aeronautical engineering school. For a quarter of a century, he dedicated himself to training future generations of aeronautical engineers, leaving an indelible mark on the minds and hearts of those he guided.

His passion for aviation and aeronautical engineering was infectious, sparking a flame in the hearts of countless students. Captain Chan-a-Sue’s commitment to excellence set a standard that continues to resonate within our institution. His vision went beyond the mechanics of flight; he aimed to cultivate not just skilled professionals but passionate individuals who carried the torch of innovation.

In particular, Captain Chan-a-Sue’s unwavering dedication to the training of young engineers stands as a testament to his character. The time and attention he invested in each student went beyond the call of duty, shaping not only their technical skills but also instilling in them a profound sense of responsibility and dedication to the art of flying and safety.

Capt. Chan-a-Sue had dedicated 25 years of “service, business insight, consultation, expertise and professionalism as a Co- Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Director of this institution”. His vision that Guyana could have a world-class institution capable of producing aeronautical engineers of international standard is reflected in the high number of graduates working in the field in Guyana, the Caribbean and throughout the world.

It is with immense pride that we announce the establishment of the annual Meritorious Award in honor of the illustrious Captain Malcolm Chan-a-Sue, A.A., M.S.

This award stands as a testament to Captain Chan-a-Sue’s dedication and, more importantly, serves as a goal for the aspiring aeronautical engineers who walk the halls of this esteemed institution.

This award will be presented to such a student that embodies all the characteristics for which the late Captain Malcolm G. Chan-A-Sue, A.A, M.S. was passionate about, loved and advocated within the field of Aviation & Service.

The graduating student, while attending Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School (AWHWAES), co-founded by Malcolm G. Chan-A-Sue, A.A, M.S. and Charles Hutson in 1993, would have consistently demonstrated the following traits for each of the four (4) academic years of his/her Ab-Initio Training:

  • An above average interest, dedication and passion for aviation and aeronautical engineering in particular.
  • Demonstrated that he/she is capable and truly believes in the principles outlined in the Aircraft Mechanics Creed which he/she recites.
  • Demonstrated a keen understanding, both theoretically and practically, for his/her area of study and is an academically solid and a well-rounded student.
  • Is a committed and dedicated individual who seeks to continuously develop his/her knowledge of the aeronautical engineering field whilst willingly assisting others, both in the school and within the community.
  • Never accepts anything but the best from self and others.

Yadram Ramcharran – Ab-Initio Programme: 2020-2023

This coveted accolade is a testament to Yadram’s exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions in the field. With a strong academic background and a wealth of practical experience, Yadram has demonstrated exemplary dedication, leadership, and innovation. The award recognizes not only his skills but also his commitment to making a positive impact in the professional sphere. Yadram Ramcharran’s receipt of the Malcolm G. Chan-A-Sue, A.A., M.S. Annual Meritorious Award is a well-deserved honor that highlights his significant accomplishments and underscores his commitment to excellence.

 

 

 

Obitre Hytmiah, – Ab-Initio Programme: 2021-2024

We are thrilled to announce that Obitre Hytmiah, a dedicated and exemplary student from the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School, has been selected as the recipient of the Malcolm G. Chan-A-Sue, A.A., M.S. Annual Meritorious Award 2024. As a student hailing from the Guyana Defense Force, Obitre embodies all the traits that the late Captain Chan-A-Sue valued and advocated within the fields of aviation and service.

Throughout his four years of Ab-Initio training, Obitre has consistently demonstrated exceptional passion, commitment, and an unwavering dedication to the principles of the Aircraft Mechanics Creed. His academic performance has been outstanding, matched by a strong grasp of both the theoretical and practical aspects of aeronautical engineering. Beyond his academic achievements, Obitre is well-known for his willingness to assist his peers, contribute actively to school activities, and represent the school in marketing and outreach efforts.
